Shipping Policy

We currently offer the following shipping options:

  • Local Pickup is available for customers in the Metro Detroit Area who want to pick up purchased items at our commercial kitchen. If you select this option, specify your preferred pickup day and time during checkout. 
  • Flat Rate Ground Shipping to anywhere in Michigan (Lower Peninsula Only), Northern Indiana and Northern Ohio.
  • Other Customers: at this time we are not shipping any plant-based meats outside of Michigan, Northern Indiana and Northern Ohio. If you place items other than Outrageous Cherry Almond Granola or Chocolate Chip Cookies in your cart, you will see an error message asking you to remove them.

We are working to expand our shipping options for plant-based meats and will update this page when additional options become available. 

  • Please allow up to 7 business days for us to prepare your order.
  • Customers receive (1) an order confirmation email when an order is placed and (2) a shipping confirmation email with the tracking number once the package has been shipped.
  • We cannot add to or modify your order once it has been placed.
  • Customers in the Metro Detroit Area can choose a local pickup option or have the product(s) shipped.
  • We make real, preservative-free food. With the exception of the granola and cookies, our products are frozen and shipped in insulated packaging with dry ice to ensure they arrive at a safe temperature. Because it is important that your order arrives frozen, these costs are determined during checkout.
  • With the exception of the granola and cookies, our products are perishable and must be frozen/refrigerated upon arrival as indicated on the package.
  • We ship on Mondays and Tuesdays excluding UPS/USPS holidays. You will receive an email with tracking information as soon as your order ships.
  • The Original Meat is not responsible for lost or stolen packages, spoiled items that were left unattended for an extended period of time, or orders placed with an incorrect address. Please check the shipping information you provide at the time of checkout very carefully.
  • Once your order has reached the production phase, we cannot cancel or refund your order.
  • We do not accept returns. If there are quality issues with your product upon receipt (e.g. packaging damage, temperature control issues, etc) please contact us.
  • Shipping cannot be expedited.
  • We do not require a signature for delivery.
  • Please contact UPS/USPS to determine the location of your package once it ships. If your package arrives late and is perished, you will need to file a claim with UPS/USPS.

Product Quality and Inventory Quantities of our products are limited and are made in small batches. We are currently a small, one-person business with restricted access to commercial kitchen space and limited storage capacity. We aim to fill and ship orders as quickly as possible.  Please contact us if you have questions or would like to place a big order and we would be happy to work with you.
